Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a highly structured "talking therapy" that helps you manage problems by changing the way you think (cognitive) and act (behavioural).
Unlike other therapies that dive deep into your past, CBT focuses on the "here and now," looking for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.
The core idea is that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and actions are all interconnected.
When you are trapped in a negative cycle - where a "catastrophising" thought leads to physical tension and then to avoidant behaviour CBT helps you break that cycle down into smaller, more manageable parts. By challenging unhelpful patterns, you can learn to respond to stress and anxiety in a more balanced way.
