Therapy starts with a human connection, not a database.
About the Centre for Therapy
Therapy starts with a human connection, not a database. If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed, or even a little bit sceptical about starting this process, I understand. I have been in that "other chair" for many years.
I know exactly what it feels like to sit at a laptop late at night, scrolling through names and faces, wondering: "Will they understand me? Can I afford this? How do I even start the conversation?"
The search for a therapist often feels like a full-time job at the very moment you have the least energy to do it. Most websites feel like cold, medical databases. I wanted to build something different—something that felt like a quiet, supportive space.
Our mission: a gentler way to connect
We are not a clinical service, and we don't offer medical advice. The Centre for Therapy is a bridge, not a provider. I built this platform to be the resource I wish I had:
- A human-first approach: We speak in plain English. We know that behind every "search query" is a person looking for hope.
- No "pay-to-play": We don't charge therapists to be listed. This means your search results aren't influenced by who has the biggest marketing budget, but by who is the best fit for your needs.
- Total transparency: From session fees to qualifications, we encourage our members to put everything upfront so there are no surprises.
- Direct connection: We aren't a middleman. Your messages go directly to the therapist's private inbox, keeping your first step confidential and simple.
We're growing (and not perfect)
I'll be the first to admit: this site isn't a polished corporate machine. It's a project born out of a genuine desire to help, built by a small team and fuelled by personal passion.
We aren't perfect, and we are learning as we go. But our aim is to improve every day—to listen to your feedback, to add better tools, and to keep making the connection between human and healer as seamless as possible. We're growing, just like the people who use this site, and we're grateful to have you with us on the journey.
Whether you are here for your first session or your fiftieth, I hope this space makes your path a little easier. You don't have to have it all figured out before you click "send." You just have to be willing to start.
Notice something we could do better?
I want this site to be as helpful as possible for people like us. If you have an idea for a feature that would make your search easier, or if something didn't work quite right for you, please let me know.
Warmly, Tom Founder, Centre for Therapy tom@centrefortherapy.com
